Doors!

The guys have been working really hard making the doors work. They are really beautiful, but are a little funky.

Here's the powder room door (on right) with the master bed door (left). The bedrooms all have carved doors.
This beauty is in the master bath- the linen closet. I REALLY love these doors. There are so many colors. Teak is really rich- and while our house has all beautiful wood, this really stands out.

Boys' bedroom closet

This is under the house- basically in the garage- 2 large closets with these awesome doors. They seem TOO nice to be there!

Mother's Day

No mother!

Karen wanted Mother's Day to be in her crafts room undisturbed, so the boys and I went to get some stuff done at the house.

First we unloaded the dozens of door knobs, pulls, and bathroom accessories. Then we unpacked Luka's elephant I got him from Thailand!

We want to keep Luka excited and Luka loves puzzles, so I decided we'd put together the bas relief on the floor. Ramen (our tiler) needed it done. No better time than the present!

Elite shipping, though they flaked majorly by not shipping the items on time and leaving out about a third of what I bought (argh!), did a great job packing this sculpture.

Only 33 pieces should go together easily!

But each one weighs between 10 and 50lbs!!!

Takes team work. Good thing we've been putting MiracleGro on Ra'am!

Luka approves.

The photos above are by Noam.

Here is some of Ramen's fine work around the Koi pond. Photos by Ra'am and Noam.

Luka loves it!

We then planted more Bermuda grass where I had started planting grass. Eventhough Luka has a broken leg, he is determined to help. Makes it a lot "easier" on me!

After that Ra'am, Noam, and I began putting up the gates for the goat pasture. We finished one and were starting on the second one when a heavy downpour soaked us. We went back home and found Karen sewing away.

granite! and lights!

House is moving along. Here's an outside shot with paint. Looks nice :)

More painted areas- this is the koi pond (or soon to be one). These are the eucalyptus robusta posts for our stairways. Beautiful wood.

The ISLAND granite is here!!! They didn't install it last time because the sink hole was in the wrong place. Unfortunately this was the LAST slab of this granite- the granite we styled the whole kitchen around. So we did some plastic surgery on the cabinets and made it work. You can see the sink hole at the far right end.
Close up of the beautiful patterns on this granite. We LOVE it!
The above snafu meant that we didn't have to shell out for this beaut of a bar. Those posts are temporarily holding it up.
This shelf is for some indirect lighting.

Ramen is putting rocks all around the koi pond.

sears delivery

in our former post about all of the booty we got from Thailand.... we neglected to mention the wee issue we had with Sears and "delivering" our appliances.

That same busy unloading day was supposed to be the day where all the appliances came. At the appointed time, the truck did arrive, but the guys inside wouldn't drive down to the house (parked at the mango tree) and could offer no solutions for getting our stuff into the house.

They sat parked there for 45 minutes, with bad attitudes, doing nothing. How LAME!!!

So the delivery company (not actually Sears) sent a different crew out a couple of days later (after many phone calls, of course).
Unfortunately the truck that came to pick up the Thailand container had trouble making it up our road with the empty container providing no traction. 45 minutes of up and down and the road was pretty busted up.

The new delivery guy called and was worried he wouldn't make it back up with his empty truck. So I offered to drive there with my 4wd truck and take the stuff down in that. Jodi was visiting and she came with me.

It took 3 trips. Here's one of the loads.
While the guys were loading, I noticed this GB's very creative solution to the lack of antenna issue....

Stuff from Thailand!

Our stuff arrived from Thailand!!! After MANY MANY snafus (which are ongoing, unfortunately), the container from Thailand arrived at the land.

GB and the carpenters unloaded the thing all morning, grabbing out doors and furniture and stuff. Most of it is still wrapped up in cardboard.

Here's the bricks that go with the bas relief that GB bought.

More and Better Pictures!

Saturday house day!

Well that last post was lame. All of these pictures are the correct way up : )

The tigerwood flooring is all in- the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom.

Luka is cleaning it with his clothing

Osiana and Luka think this is a fun way to play on the new floor with GB. This is our bedroom- you can see the potty at the end of that hall
Here's the fish tank wall and bookshelves in the living room

closet.... looks TOO nice for a closet!
?!?!?!? this is right inside the front door. Looks like something we'd see in a Hajim house ;) we'll have to get out a label maker to figure out what these all control!
the outdoor shower rockwork is complete. The guys did an AWEsome job. This is really NICE rockwork.

No visit to the land is complete without a "getting-the-tractor-unstuck" incident. We had a load of cinder delivered to back fill the water tank. Tractor was sunk pretty far in it. But we're experienced (unfortunately!) and pulled it out pretty quickly!

sitting here where my bed is going to be : )

does this work?? a wee video of Luka
