How things are looking
The planter boxes around the koi pond proved to be a huge amount of work to fill. But GB finished them all off.... and we bought a large palm to fill up the space (and think we need another).

The pool deck has been acid washed and is awaiting sealing.
Sunrise. I woke up and this was so amazing (but too early!).... so I took a shot and went back to bed.

Pool Fun!
This Saturday we had our first pool party!
The pool quickly filled with kids- funny how they gravitate like that
The adults stayed at the deep end- trying to chat amid the chaotic screams of joy
And as the sun went down, the lights went on.... and the little kids (and then the big kids) moved inside for a movie

Pool!
We returned home from a trip to the mainland, and the pool was done!
The boys and I had a long journey back.... 10 hours from Newark to Honolulu and then a short flight home. We arrived at 9pm at home- which is 3am east coast time. But were we ever excited to see the pool!!! So we jumped right in.
The lights are programable and they change colors.

progress
Just because we moved in doesn't mean everything is done!
We had wanted to wait until it was ALL done. But the house was complete.... and the thought of it sitting there, empty was just TOO much!
Plus.... school would start soon (in the beginning of Aug) and mainland visitors were coming. SO we moved and have been living with construction around us.
Here's the fish tank getting filled up (with Luka in the background)

April Update
So much has been happening at the land in regards to the house and pool. I've been mostly at home with the recovering toddler.... but GB has taken a bunch of pictures in the last week.

fish tank space! with bookshelves above. This wall is between the master bedroom and the living room.
extra closet space we added above the regular closet. I believe this is in one of the boys' rooms

this cute hobbit doorway goes to the pool equipment. It's going to be kinda underground- the top will be the pool deck. I love the doorway!
Pool deck all smoothed out!

Luka's Birthday!
Jan 25th. Luka's 3!!!!
We took our kids and the Pacheco kids to the zoo for Luka's bday. On the way home, after picking up Ra'am from school, GB mentioned that Gene said the road was fixed. So we stopped to see how it was.
Road was great. We made it down in the van- loaded with groceries and children.

Picture Heavy Post Ahead!
We've all returned from our journeys. Luka and I went to LA to see my family, and then to Key Largo to see the Hajim's (notably, new nephew Leo).
We got back last night, and today GB and I went out to see the progress.
1st off, we ran into Tom the solar guy. He was planning on putting the panels up on the roof, but a short passing squall turned the roof into a scary, slippery slope.... so perhaps tomorrow.
In any case.....

It's amazing what a roof over your head does psychologically. While the house was open to the sky, we felt so vulnerable. Now there's a cap overhead... and it feels nice.
We also have a new stairway.

This is the view standing at the far end of the pool. It's shallow there so you can stand there and look at the ocean.
View of the house from the pool

Are we happy?? You betcha. We're really thrilled. We can't WAIT!

It's starting to look like a HOUSE!
That's not the roof.... but the ceiling.... Hemlock tongue and groove. It looks fabulous!

AND!!!!!
the weather cleared up enough for the pool to be sprayed! Now we're ready to order tile.
